How to Say You Dropped Something in Spanish
Hey this is Joel from http//:worldspanishteacher.com. In this lesson, I’m going to teach you how to say that you dropped something.
Now there’s not a simple verb that you can use here. We don’t have a verb that just means “to drop.” So you have to use the verb “caerse” which means “to fall.”
So basically what you’re going to say is, “it fell because of me.” So, I would say, “Se me cayó” – I dropped it.
“You dropped it” would be, “Se te cayó.” “He/she dropped it” would be “Se le cayó.”
And if you want to say what the person dropped, you simply say it at the end of the sentence. “Se me cayó la pelota” – I dropped the ball.
“Se te cayó el vaso” – You dropped the glass.
Now, if I want to say, “I dropped the balls,” I would have to say, “Se me cayeron las pelotas”
So, “caerse” needs to match what is following. So, if I just want to say that I dropped them, then I can say, “Se me cayeron.”
Now to say for example, “I’m dropping everything,” you would say, “Se me está cayendo todo.”
Now to say, “Watch out, you’re going to drop the plate” – “Cuidado, se te va a caer el plato.”
Alright, well I hope that this lesson was helpful for you and that you can start using this in your Spanish conversations.
